The Project Management Office (PMO) is a center of distinction, delivering world class federally funded and public/private partnered projects at SLAC. PMO's vision is to facilitate and foster a culture of Project Management excellence at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory and the Department of Energy (DOE) and developing a career path for Project Managers and their support groups within the Laboratory system.

PMO is responsible for project controls, scheduling, cost estimating and risk management on DOE Order 413.3b, General Plant Projects(GPP)and Institutional General Plant Projects (IGPP). Utilizing SLAC's Earned Value Management System (EVMS), PMO creates an atmosphere where project's can be optimally planned with accurate reporting and effective controls through standardized procedures in project scoping, budgeting and schedule.
PMO is responsible for SLAC's Project Management Advisory & Assurance Group (PMAAG), Project Management Community of Practice and Project & Tool Rapid Improvement Events.
PMO Director: Lauren Thompson
Lauren provides the strategic direction for our project management program at SLAC, playing a critically important role in ensuring the success of our major projects and activities. She develops and maintains the OPM charter, oversees the office’s staff and subcontractors, and ensures the implementation of project management standards that support a broad spectrum of projects from R&D to conventional facilities construction.
An important aspect of her role will be to work closely with project directors and project managers on Director’s Reviews and project assessments, which are essential for tracking performance across our project portfolio.
